The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee (PACAC) has published a report on NHS care and treatment of people with eating disorders, which followed up on the recommendations in our Ignoring the Alarms report published in December 2017.
Commenting on the report Rob Behrens, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, said:
Our report highlighted a number of deaths from eating disorders which could have been avoided had the NHS provided the right care and treatment. The PACAC report rightly addresses the ongoing problem of NHS staff not being properly trained nor having the resources to support and treat people with eating disorders. These vital improvements would help to prevent the same mistakes happening to others.'
