Information request for the Chief of Staff job description and our grade structure.
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 19 March 2015 in which you asked the following:
"Please clarify the duties of your Chief of Staff and the seniority of the role in relation to the other staff involved in the cases under review."
Please find attached a job description for the Chief of Staff role, the information sets out the job purpose, key accountabilities and person specification.
The Chief of Staff supports the Managing Director in the running of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, and also leads and directs the activities of the Managing Director's office, in coordination with the Chair's office and administration teams. The role however does not involve managing casework or reviews.
Our job grading structure is included below. The role of Chief of Staff is at grade 2 and the post holder reports directly to the Managing Director.
