Information request about our mobile phone contracts, data and call time allowances
Further to your email dated 15 March 2015, I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request. I have responded to your questions below.
1. Please provide details of the number of mobile phones you currently provide to PHSO staff.
We have 60 mobile handsets.
2. Please provide details of the make and model of mobile phones you currently provide to PHSO staff.

3. Please confirm that your records show the names of all staff currently in possession of the mobile phones you have issued.
Yes we hold a record.
4. What happens to the mobile phones of staff who leave your organisation?
Members of staff are required to return their mobile devices to PHSO prior to departure. Both the handset and SIM card are recycled for use by other staff.
5. Please provide the total number of minutes that calls made on the mobile phones you provide to staff amounted to in the most recent month for which information is available.
The total minutes used was 1504:19
6. Please provide the total monthly amount of "free" minutes that your contract with the phone operator provides for in respect of all the mobile phones that you have currently issued to staff.
The totals free calls included per month are:
Cross network 73,125
3 to 3 90,000
Landline 45,000
7. In the most recent month for which information is available, please provide details of the proportion of telephone calls made on the mobile phones you provide to staff that were made between 5pm and 9am.
The invoices and bill summaries we receive from our service provider does not contain the information you have requested, as a result we do not hold this information.
8. Please provide the total number of texts sent on the mobile phones you provide to staff in the most recent month for which information is available.
The total number of texts used was 553.
9. What is the greatest number of minutes spent on one of your mobile phones by a single user in the most recent month for which information is available?
The greatest number of minutes used on a mobile device was 323:15. The amount used was within the free monthly allowance.
10. Please provide details of the number of "free" minutes you telephone operator provides for web browsing.
We do not receive free minutes for web browsing from our service provider. Each mobile device comes with a package comprising inclusive call minutes, messages and data allowance.
Data is used for using the internet for reading emails, viewing content online or web browsing. Data allowances will come as unlimited, gigabytes or megabytes (104896 bytes is equal to 1 megabyte, and 1024 megabytes is equal to 1 gigabyte). We are billed on the number of megabytes downloaded, however the packages for our mobile handsets include an unlimited data allowance and our other mobile devices have a set data allowance. We do not receive a total number of free megabytes covering all our mobile devices.
11. In the most recent month for which information is available, please provide details of the total number of minutes that staff issued with mobile phones browsed the internet.
The total number megabytes (104896 bytes = 1 megabyte) of downloaded data were 16,004.0289.
12. In the most recent month for which information is available, what is the greatest number of minutes spent by a single individual browsing the internet?
The greatest number of megabytes used on a mobile device was 1,475.2069. The amount used was within the free monthly allowance.
