About us

We were set up by Parliament to provide an independent complaint handling service for complaints that have not been resolved by the NHS in England and UK government departments.

We share findings from our casework to help Parliament scrutinise public service providers. We also share our findings more widely to help drive improvements in public services and complaint handling.

 

About the role

As a key member of our management team you will be at the heart of delivering creative and effective communication strategies and campaigns to engage our target audiences with the role and work of PHSO. Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will be responsible for leading a small team of talented communication professionals across digital, media and marketing.

We are looking for someone with creative skills, excellent judgement, and a strong news sense. An understanding of the health sector and government would be an advantage.

You will have a successful track record of delivering impactful communications across a wide range of channels, including social media and digital, and a robust understanding of the political and media landscape. You will also have a proven track record of providing advice to senior colleagues on a wide range of communication issues, including crisis and issues. You will have:

  • Experience of managing a busy communications function and delivering impactful communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong reputation management skills
  • Experience of successfully evaluating the effectiveness of communications activity and continuously seeking to improve delivery.
