Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman Julie Mellor said:
Too many people are still dying from sepsis more than two years after our report revealed that thousands of lives could be saved if action was taken to improve diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
'The NHS has to get a handle on this to prevent more people dying unnecessarily.'
