I write in response to your email of 29 October 2015 in which you request information regarding how many complaints we receive about GPs and how many of these resulted in compensatory awards in 2013/14.
I can confirm that we hold the information you are seeking. Additionally, I am able to provide you with statistics from 2014/15. I have provided this information in Table A below.
It may be helpful if I explain why there is a difference between the number of complaints about GPs accepted for investigation and the total number of investigation outcomes. Not all the complaints accepted for investigation are resolved in the business year they are received in. Therefore, for example, some complaints accepted for investigation in 2013/14 will be resolved in 2014/15 and so will feature in that year’s statistics.
I hope this information has been useful. If you require any assistance reading the table please do not hesitate to get in touch.
