Rebecca Hilsenrath announced as new Chief Executive of PHSO

Rebecca Hilsenrath has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.

Rebecca is currently Director of Strategy at PHSO and secured the role following a competitive external recruitment campaign.

The appointment follows the announcement by Amanda Amroliwala that she will leave her position later this year after over six years in the role.

Amanda said:

“Over the last two years that Rebecca has worked for PHSO I have seen first-hand her extensive capabilities and commitment to helping us be the best organisation we can be. I have no doubt that Rebecca will be a fantastic CEO to lead PHSO in the next era of its development.”

Ombudsman Rob Behrens said:

“Rebecca brings a wealth of experience from a distinguished career including having been CEO of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. She has the additional strength of having existing and important knowledge of PHSO through her current role as a Director. I look forward to working alongside Rebecca in the role.”

Rebecca said:

“It is an enormous privilege to succeed Amanda, who will leave an extraordinary legacy in the organisation she and Rob have transformed. I am immensely excited about the opportunity to lead the fantastic PHSO team at such an important time, when we will need to explore new avenues and opportunities to respond to the current pressures on access to justice and public services.”

Rebecca’s start date will be announced in due course.
