We have briefed MPs ahead of Second Reading of the Health and Care Bill in the House of Commons. The Bill covers many aspects of the health and care system in England, including the establishment of Integrated Care Systems and the Health Service Safety Investigations Body (HSIB).
Our briefing covers two themes:
- The opportunity to strengthen patient voices about failings in their care and treatment, by making PHSO the Complaints Standards Authority for the NHS in England.
- The proposal within the Bill to prohibit PHSO from accessing information held by HSIB - this could have a significant impact on patients and families who complain to us and for citizens who use the NHS.
