About us

We make final decisions on complaints that have not been resolved by the NHS in England and UK government departments, and other UK public organisations. We do this independently and impartially.

We were set up by Parliament to provide an independent complaint handling service. We are not part of Government, the NHS in England, or a regulator.

We are neither a consumer champion nor arbitrator. Our service is free for everyone.

About the role

We are looking for a talented and driven individual with considerable experience in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) sector to support our caseworkers to apply best practice in this area. This will include translating equality legislation into casework practice.

As Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist you will be responsible for the design and delivery of an effective process for providing advice and support on EDI matters in our casework. This will include creation of effective knowledge and information systems to ensure staff have comprehensive up-to-date access to EDI best practice as it relates to their work.

You will be responsible for ensuring the Ombudsman provides an inclusive and accessible service to its users. Using feedback and insight, you will help the Ombudsman use EDI best practice when improving its service design. You will also be instrumental in assisting the Ombudsman carry out campaign work to raise awareness of its service.
