About us

We are the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman, an independent national ombudsman service. We are here to make final decisions on complaints that are yet to be resolved by the NHS in England, UK government departments, and some other public organisations. We do this fairly and transparently without taking sides, and our service is completely free.

About the role

We're looking for a proactive and dynamic Liaison & Training Manager who will be responsible for the design and delivery of the Operations Liaison function to develop, maintain and enhance PHSO’s relationships with its external stakeholders.  This is to be delivered both personally and via the creation, oversight, planning and delivery of liaison activity carried out by staff in Operations to ensure it is consistent and meets the objectives of PHSO’s strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Operations’ role in PHSO’s strategy to work with public sector organisations to improve public service complaint handling via PHSO’s Complaint Standards and outreach activities.  This includes capturing and sharing learning from our casework and disseminating good practice, alongside development of PHSO’s bespoke training offer for organisations.

The successful candidate will have experience of creating, managing and enhancing relationships with external stakeholders to work constructively, particularly where there may be tension or conflicting views and priorities. They will also have experience of design and delivery of training products and courses (preferably in the NHS or central government sector). You will have an understanding of the UK government and parliament.
