About us

We are the final stage for complaints about the NHS in England and public services delivered by the UK Government. We look into complaints where someone believes there has been injustice or hardship because an organisation has not acted properly or fairly or has given a poor service and not put things right. Our service is free for everyone.

About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an established IT professional to make their mark in an organisation that is going through a determined process of transformation. The current business plan, which has recently been updated, outlines the transformation activity for the next 3 years and ICT features prominently.

In this influential role, you will be operating at a senior level within a small, recently formed ICT team, and will report to the Assistant Director ICT & Accommodation. You’ll be the technology lead for both transformation and operate activity, and this role will suit someone who has proven experience of leading technology change, in a hands-on environment, whilst in parallel supporting legacy infrastructure and applications.

The successful candidate will be have a strong technical background and will be responsible for innovation, consolidation and integration of our IT environments covering any aspect of the IT architecture (Application, Data, Infrastructure, Networks, Integration and Security).

You will work across multiple technologies and platforms and will recommend and lead the introduction of appropriate technologies to deliver improved services to our complainants and staff. As a senior member of the ICT team you’ll do this whilst developing and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders.

There are many challenges that you will get involved with, including in the first: supporting the Head of ICT to define an ICT and Digital strategy, that embraces the Government Digital agenda of developing technology enabled business solutions with innovation and customer experience at the heart of design principles, and the subsequent roadmap for delivery.

The job offers a stimulating brief for proven technology professionals. We seek strong individuals educated to degree level or have achieved professional certification relevant to the role and with the energy, enthusiasm and experience to relish the opportunity and who will thrive in a challenging operational environment.
