2013 staff survey

Although in 2013 we were disappointed to see a drop in staff engagement levels, the survey took place during an unsettling period of change. We were in the middle of the first phase of our service modernisation and restructuring to change the way we worked.

As a result of our 2013 staff survey and other feedback, we have changed some of the ways we do things.  An action plan was developed to handle key issues that our staff raised around the following themes:

  • internal communication
  • pay and progression
  • senior management
  • equality and diversity
  • customer service
  • learning and development
  • line management.

As part of our 2014-15 business plan, we seek to improve employee engagement by increasing the level of staff involvement in change and improving communication. We are also currently consulting on a new system for pay and reward, which will include a new performance management system.

We have addressed issues like management continuity, improved and increased our engagement with managers and employees and we recognise that there’s still much more to do as we modernise.
