Each year, we invite all employees to take part in a staff survey. The 2023 survey was carried out by an independent research company in November. While we are unable to take part in the Civil Service People Survey (CSPS), which has been limited to central government organisations, we matched the majority of CSPS questions so that we can compare our results with those of other organisations.
83% of our workforce took part in the 2023 survey, offering their feedback on a range of topics including:
- management and leadership
- change in the organisation
- learning and development
- the working environment
- overall engagement with the organisation.
Our overall engagement index score has remained largely the same as the previous year, at 68%. The results show many positives to build upon, including that colleagues take pride in the work they do and are engaged in it, value our supportive and collaborative culture, and have strong relationships with their managers.
Compared to 2022’s positive results, we’ve seen decreases in some areas, such as learning and development, change management and questions relating to leadership.
We are involving colleagues across the organisation as we address survey themes and continue to build on our strengths.
